Baseball Team Praised for Community Spirit During Local Fundraiser
The Montgomery College Raptors baseball team recently received heartfelt recognition after turning a routine meal stop into a memorable community moment. Following a recent evening outing, the team received a complimentary email from local educator Katie White, a Pre-K teacher, highlighting the team's positive impact during a fundraiser at McDonald's.
The restaurant was hosting a "McEducator Night," where a portion of sales during a designated two-hour period supported a local PTA fundraiser. According to White, the Raptors initially hesitated to enter due to the busy atmosphere, but ultimately decided to come in and place a large group order.
What made the experience unforgettable was the timing. The team completed their order with just 14 seconds remaining before the fundraiser ended—allowing their purchase to count toward the PTA donation effort. As the countdown unfolded, the entire restaurant rallied behind the team, cheering them on as they placed their order. When the final transaction was completed in time, the restaurant erupted in applause, creating a fun and uplifting moment for everyone in attendance.
White praised the team's enthusiasm and willingness to participate, noting that the student-athletes represented the College in a positive and meaningful way. Moments like these reflect the Raptors' commitment to community engagement and demonstrate how small actions can leave a lasting impression beyond the field.
