The Maryland JUCO Conference Announces Awards
The Maryland JUCO Conference announced the 2024 "Coach of the Year Award" and the "Steve Bazarnic Award". These awards were voted on by the Region XX league coaches in all divisions.
The Steve Bazarnic Award
This award was named after Hall of Fame Coach Steve Bazarnic. Coach Bazarnic was the Head Coach at Allegany College of Maryland for 49 years, winning 1,469 games. This prestigious award is given to the elite hitter of the Maryland JUCO Baseball Conference.
This year's recipient was Will Burgess from Montgomery College. Will led the MDJUCO with a .455 Batting average. The left-handed hitter played in 50 games collecting 66 hits with 44 RBI's leading the Raptors to a Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship and their first NJCAA D2 World Series appearance in Enid Oklahoma.
Maryland JUCO Coach of the Year
Dan Rascher from Montgomery College was named the Maryland JUCO Coach of the Year. This award is voted upon by all of the Region XX Coaches from all divisions. Rascher led the Raptors to a 34-21 record and to their first D2 Mid Atlantic Regional Championship and D2 World Series appearance.
