Raptors Open Region Play With 70–58 Win Over Southern Maryland
Rockville, MD — The Montgomery College Raptors continued their strong early-season surge on Tuesday night, defeating the College of Southern Maryland 70–58 in their Region 20 opener. Fresh off a pair of victories at the MC Tip-Off Tournament over the weekend, the Raptors carried their momentum onto their home floor, showcasing depth, rebounding dominance, and timely scoring in the victory.
Montgomery set the tone early with a 22-point first quarter, applying defensive pressure that limited Southern Maryland's rhythm while controlling the glass on both ends. The Raptors held a 39–28 lead at halftime and maintained steady control throughout, matching the Hawks' energy in the second half to secure their third straight win.
Massenburg Leads the Charge Off the Bench
Sophomore guard Sanai Massenburg delivered a standout performance, providing an offensive spark throughout the night. Massenburg poured in a game-high 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting, adding 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 32 impactful minutes. Her ability to score at all three levels gave Montgomery consistent lift during key stretches of the game.
Balanced Effort Across the Lineup
The Raptors' frontcourt was a force, with multiple players crashing the boards and contributing second-chance opportunities. Caitlyn Howard posted a huge night on the glass with 15 rebounds (9 offensive) while adding 7 points and 2 blocks. Yaheera Williams and Londyn Miller each secured 10 rebounds, helping Montgomery control the rebounding margin from start to finish.
